Full text: Barack Obama's Cairo speech

I am honoured to be in the timeless city of Cairo, and to be hosted by two remarkable institutions. For over a thousand years, al-Azhar has stood as a beacon of Islamic learning, and for over a century, Cairo University has been a source of Egypt's advancement. Together, you represent the harmony between tradition and progress. I am grateful for your hospitality, and the hospitality of the people of Egypt. I am also proud to carry with me the goodwill of the American people, and a greeting of peace from Muslim communities in my country: assalaamu alaykum.

Why Won't Mike Huckabee Quit

On the republican side it is assumed that Mr MaCain will be the republican nominee for president. At present he has the most nominations. Although this is the case Mike Huckabee
is still fighting. The question is why?

I think Mike Huckabee has an agenda at this point in the race, which is either personal or institutional to the Republican Party.

1. Mr Huckabee is using the platform as a means of spreading his religious beliefs
2. The Republican Party is keeping Mr Huckabee in the race so as to keep the Republican Party main candidate over the news network.

I would believe and think the latter is true.

Obama, Impressive victory

Obama had a convincing win against Senator Clinton yesterday. This has pulled him ahead of Ms Clinton in delegate counts, excluding super delegates.

The race has been truly intriguing since the race for presidency for the first time on the democrat side there has been an African American and a woman competing at this highest level.

Outside of the competition one cannot ignore the amount of money that is being spent on this race. Ms Clinton has admitted contributing US$5M of her own money to her campaign, Obama has indicated that his campaign is able to raise over US$6M in one night.

JAMCL will continue to monitor this race and keep blogging on the issues associated with this race.

Portia's obsession with ‘seven’

Kingston, Jamaica:
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is being accused of being a superstitious leader by people in different walks of live in Jamaica because of her apparent obsession with the numeral seven.
During her address to her sixty candidates and members of her party which totaled over 120,000, she requested an August 27, date for the General Election and an August 7, nomination date; this was apparently inspired by her status as the seventh Prime Minister of Jamaica.
However, one should note that 'seven' is a Biblical number and was recorded by John, in the Book of Revelation. John being a scribe had inspiration from Christ before writing the information we now read in the Holy Bible.
John spoke about the seven candlesticks being, and the seven stars and the seven Angels, and the seven spirits, just to name a few.
