Earth, Wind & Fire stay in the light

Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival 2007

efire.jpg

After more than 30 years of making music, legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire performs on the island for the first time at the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival to be staged next weekend in Montego Bay.

"We're very excited about visiting Jamaica... [The audience can] look forward to a great band with a great catalogue of songs coming to rock the house," said percussionist Ralph Johnson yesterday in a phone interview from Los Angeles. Johnson, who joined the band in 1972 after founder Maurice White dissolved the initial line-up, has weathered the climate of a constantly changing industry.

Michael Bolton At Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues 2007

Hdr2007_01.jpg

Grammy award-winning superstar Michael Bolton is set to perform for the first time ever in Jamaica next month, courtesy of organizers of the 2007 Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival.

Bolton’s performance in Jamaica has been a long time in the making. As a family man and a single parent of three, Jamaica was Bolton’s vacation spot of choice for years. He even learned to snorkel and received his water sport’s certification in this beautiful Caribbean country. But despite invitations from several promoters, a performance never materialized.

But come January 2007, the singer, who has sold over 53 million records worldwide and has become a towering figure in the world of music, will grace a Jamaican stage in Montego Bay at the 2007 Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival. It is an event he describes as “a land mark moment because it is the tenth anniversary” of the festival.

Welcome to JAMROCK 2006 Review

Jamrock.jpg

Last night I attended the welcome to JAMROCK concert at the Constant Spring football field, I will give the show an eight (8) out of ten (10).

Let’s start with areas that I was dissatisfied with:

1.There apparently was no parking arrangement in place. As a resul most of the patrons had to squeeze in a corner. I had to pay a man two hundred dollars for a parking spot on the road.

2. The sound was atrocious. TOK was badly hurt in my opinion. The best sound should be used for a production of this nature, even if it means increasing the price.

Who will be the Queen of Guinness Sting 2006?

*Which woman DJ will rule the roost?

dj%20spice.jpg

Sting the Greatest one night Reggae Show on earth over the years usually highlight the men in the Dancehall, but the women are left behind in their wake.

But, the women has shown their niche in recent time and can share the stage with their male counterparts.

queen%20Paula.jpg

JAMCL is asking readers/viewers which woman will walk away with the title of Queen of Sting 2006? We have short listed the competition to three, DJ Spice, Queen Paula and

DJ Spice.

DJ Weh yu hear bout Spice, a Portmore artiste has come of age and has followed the raunchy lyrical style of Lady Saw will she wear the crown on December 26, 2006 at the JAM World Entertainment Complex? Or the New sensation 2005 Rising star contender DJ Face be the one, can youngster Face handle the Sting crowd, and a possible lyrically battle with a seasoned female artiste and rule the roost? And who can forget Grand Muma Queen Paula who is set to take the place to another level. Can she knock off her fellow female artistes?

Please cast your vote in the comments slot available.

A little drizzle did not stop the party at Mellow Vibes

man%26women.jpg

Mellow vibes was the place to be on October 28th 2006. Patrons danced up a storm as the dj’s delivered 70’s, 80’s and 90’s tunes to the crowd. With ladies free before 11 pm, females flocked the place which indeed carried the men to the party. One would think that females would try their best to come before 11 0’clock but this was not the case. Even after this time females could be seen hanging out at the venue as well as in the lines to buy the tickets to enter Mas Camp.
