Nesbeth 'Drive By' single
hits Number 1 on
Kenyan radio station in Africa!
Ever since its release, ‘Drive By’ the Jan Biggs produced single written and recorded by Nesbeth struck a musical note among Reggae enthusiasts in Kenya. For several weeks the single has been blazing the airwaves of Kenya number one radio station, Metro FM the pioneering FM station in Kenya. Metro FM was set up in April 1996 and relaunched on 1st august 2005 as a 24 hour reggae radio station. Since its relaunch, Metro FM has become a big player on the entertainment scene. One disc Jock disclosed that the single, “became an anthem in Kenya after holding down the song of the week title for a unprecedented number of weeks and so it’s no surprise that it is the number 1 song on the Reggae Charts today”.
"Drive By" is a musical depiction of unyielding drive by shooting incidents that occur in many inner city communities on a regular basis, it is a musical revelation that crime has not been brought under control in Jamaica for a very long time. The lyrics are words from one voice and one individual who has found clever ways of speaking his thoughts. Thoughts, that represent the mind set of thousands who live under these stressful conditions daily and having to deal with the tragic loss of friends and loved ones rapidly.
The video for Drive By was shot and directed by Terminal 4 Productions on locations in Cassia Park, Arnette Gardens and Don Mair Drive in Kingston Nesbeth who is nominated in the category of “Singjay of the Year” for the 2010 EME Awards is elated with the recent development, he now awaits the response from at least one prospective Promoter in Kenya who contacted his Agent for a possible appearance there on June 1st.
Fantan Mojah “Tax Invasion” and Capleton’s “Haition” tracks on the Tremma House produced riddim, Massaca have ignited much excitement among international radio jocks. Fantan Mojah "Tax Invasion" a controversial hit!!
Fantan Mojah has recorded and released what already seems to be a controversial and potential hit song entitle "Tax Invasion" produced by Tremma House Productions on the Massacre Rhythm. The single hit the airwaves late evening January 6th on ZIP 103FM and immediately after several radio jocks have called in for their copies. Upon hearing about the radio djs' reaction towards the song, Fantan took it to the streets to get a reaction from the people and the response was the same. "Tax Invasion" earned massive forwards and replays and mumsel, a testament that this song is indeed a potential hit. As the name suggests, Tax Invasion addresses Jamaica current economic problems and the many increases on basic food items brought on by the Government in an effort to cover the countries debts. Other artistes have addressed the situation but Fantan Mojah's "Tax Invasion" track on the Massacre riddim is the cereal (see real) being fed to the masses at this time as he continues in his mission to advocate for poor people.
I-Octane record 30 performances between late November and December!
Reggae crusader I-Octane performed at a record 30 events between late November and December last year including 98% of all the major shows held in Jamaica during that period. Many are still talking about his STING 2009 performance and the massive forwards he received from beginning to end of his performance. Octane's journey was never easy and is still far from perfection but his efforts and overall islandwide campaign, the interest, motivation and contribution of management company Arrows Recording and team player and Road Manager Biggs have placed I-Octane at the top of his game. Having started the New Year right, the high energy, high performance artiste now prepares for his first Europe tour and the release of a debut album.
David M “Lest We Forget” single
hits the international market!
David M Lest We Forget single has hit the international market and is now a regular selection on several radio jocks playlist in Illinois, Atlanta and New York City. In the 90’s David M hooked up with “the Berry Gordon of Jamaica” Gussie Clarke of Anchor Recording and wrote songs for artists such as, Gregory Isaacs, Freddie McGregor, Coco Tea, JC Lodge among others but abandoned music for the rigors of the family business at the time. He returned after 14 years with “Lest we Forget” which ironically was written 15 years ago on the eve of the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa…. The words are as relevant today as they ever were.

Brooksie perform the track on “Christmas Bonanza’ a show held in Hanover last December and hosted by veteran Radio Jock Ron Muschette for the first time publicly and was please with the crowd response. Overall his performance at the event was seemingly good as he was called back on stage where he perform three of his singles Talk It Over, Mama and Dead Man Walking featuring Chronicle and Montis. Dead Man Walking is getting a fair amount of airplay locally and in around New York City but notably on Hot 97. As Brooksie puts it, “the song speaks to the fact that men involved in crime are Dead men walking”. Sounie Production has thrown much effort behind promoting this song which is also featured on a number of cd mixes to include the popular Coast to Coast mix and DJ Kenny.
Reggae artistes Roots Revealers are satisfied with the work they were able to put in on their recent visit to Jamaica. No Games Sold 1100 units - released without Universal Republic
"It's tough out there but we are remaining positive and focused on developing Serani as an artist and a brand," said Julian Jones-Griffith, Serani's manager, in the aftermath of shifting a little over 1100 units first week of his debut album, No Games. "We are lucky that we have venture partners who believe in Serani, will stay the course and roll out a third single. They share our vision of artist development and breaking him in new markets. When you think, how far Serani has come in terms of profile and mainstream airplay in under 2 years as an artist it's a phenomenal achievement and hes out-paced many acts who have been on the scene for years. We're closing in on 100,000 single downloads overall since we rolled out, which is huge, and I'm confident we will get where we want to go."
Tuesday, October 27, 2009: The lawns of Hope Gardens in Kingston will be transformed for three exciting days when Garfield’s Christmas Wonderland comes to town from December 18 to 20. The ultimate family event, all three days, from the Friday to the Sunday will be chockfull of activities designed for every member of the family. The organizers promise “a full entertainment package geared at the whole family”. The brainchild of Peter Shoucair, he says the idea to do this kind of event came about because of “the lack of quality family entertainment.”
According to Shoucair, “There are limited opportunities for the family to go out and enjoy themselves, especially in this kind of easy, funfilled atmosphere and Christmas is a time when families come together, so we figured this would be an ideal treat.”

Another significant day in Jamaica's history, National Heroes Day has come and gone. It is that time of year when we celebrate our seven National Heroes, and also the date on which awards within Jamaica's honour system are bestowed. It is with this in mind that we take time out to congratulate Honorable Usain Bolt O.D., the youngest recipient to date of the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander in Jamaica. As it relates to our music, there are some who believes that the late great Honourable Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley is indeed a National hero and should be acknowledged as such. That is a debatable subject and understandably so but without further delay we bring you this weeks’ Artiste Update.
National Heroes Day holiday weekend was indeed great for the party lovers and of course the NIP artistes were out at the events and represented themselves well. Positive music will forever live in the industry and usually pays off when it matters most, which is why I-Octane enjoyed much media attention throughout the weekend. His past performances on the Morgan Heritage family produced East Fest event and Red Stripe LIVE show were re-broadcast on TVJ. I-Octane, one of the newcomers on R.E.T.V. School Tour, deed to educate, uplift and motivate people through his music, continues and he was once again rewarded with resounding forwards at every event he performed.
Bramma is making sure he puts in enough appearances to add to his credit before his two weeks Europe tour. Throughout the weekend he performed at various events firstly and at short notice he made an appearance at the Meadowbrook High School Heritage Day concert and upon entering the schools' compound he was mobbed by excited students who were not expecting him to show up, Bramma had to be locked in a room to ease the rush but gave the students a satisfying performance. He also performed on RECESS at YMCA and Fresh Fridays Anniversary again to resounding forwards. On Monday October 17 he stormed the stage at billed....... event held at Portmore Football field, his first appearance on a major event in Portmore and sharing stage with Elephant Man other billed artiste for the event was label mate Chino. Bramma's currently single "Mi Nuh Fear" on the Outbreak riddim produced by Steven McGregor is enjoying heavy rotation on radio stations locally and internationally.
The ‘Feels So Good’ music video from sexy reggae singer Barbee premiered on Saturday on Winford Williams’ OnStage and earned the soulful singer some big props.

Shot at the prestigious Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston, TD Films under the direction of Ras Tingle worked round the clock to capture the perfect ambiance for the ‘Feels So Good’ single that has been getting heavy airplay locally and abroad.

Well advanced into her voice coaching program and determine to improve her sound and production quality with every new song, Sophia Brown has released a new single “Gimmi that good love” another independent production on her Musicmecka Label. “Gimmi that good love” is reminiscent of a steamy relationship between a man and a woman.
I-Octane new single “Loose a friend” on the TJ Production Label has already made a significant impact locally. The song is a resounding cry of a person who lost a friend and is explanatory the inner city communities reaction to the song as many have lost friends to loved ones to unyielding gun crimes in Jamaica. We at New Image Promotions say this is, another potential hit for I-Octane who leaves the island this weekend for Toronto to perform on the highly anticipated Champions in Action, Dancehall/Reggae show.
Christina Starz joined the campaign to release her new single, a raunchy, humorous Dancehall selection called “Mi nah call nuh name”, the song is retrospective of a bad experience she once had in the music business.
Buju Banton's Rasta Got Soul US Tour A Success / Reggae Bash 2009 Press Party
- Promoters Call It The Biggest Selling Reggae Tour Of The Year -
(New York, NY -- 12, October 2009) Gargamel Music, Inc. is pleased to report that over 15,000 fans have already witnessed the magic of Jamaican music icon, Buju Banton's Rasta Got Soul US Tour, which kicked off last month at the Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia. The buzz worthy Roots Reggae revue has since blazed through a string of successful shows in Maryland , Rhode Island , Connecticut , Maine , Massachusetts , New York , New Jersey , North Carolina , Virginia , Michigan and Ohio , and has been receiving rave reviews from day one:
"During the show, Banton's gruff, soulful voice captured the passion behind the hyperkinetic 'Murderer' and 'Willy (Don't Be Silly).' His band (including a drummer who sounded as though he had eight hands) was ridiculously tight, their arrangements elegant and dynamic without losing their frenetic feel. From the 'Wipeout'-based rhythm-backed rap of 'Me & Oonu' through to the soulful 'I Rise' to cribbing Michael Jackson's universal plea, 'Heal the World,' Banton proved he could make things right within his music." - Philadelphia Inquirer
This week, the Rasta Got Soul US Tour rolls into Colorado for two shows and then dips over to California, where the four-time Grammy-nominated artist, along with opening acts Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage , Nikki Burt and Angel Shalome , will play seven dates, before moving on to New Mexico, Texas, Georgia and Florida. Despite the ongoing smear campaign against Banton, promoters are already calling it the biggest selling Reggae tour of the year. Buju would like to thank the promoters, venues and especially the fans for their amazing show of support at this time. To the detractors, he offers the following statement:
"Throughout my travels as an artist, I have witnessed first hand the senseless atrocities being suffered by innocent people around the world and my heart goes out to them. I do not condone violence against anyone, including gays, and I have spent my career rallying against violence and injustice through music. At this point, I can only hope that my body of work speaks for itself and that anyone still offended by the lyrics of my youth will take the time to explore my catalog or come to one of my shows before reducing my character and entire musical repertoire to a single song."
The Buju Banton Rasta Got Soul US Tour is proudly sponsored by The Fader (www.thefader.com ), who is currently giving away pairs of tickets to upcoming gigs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Miami. Tell It Like It Is - Stevie Face Drops Sophomore Album
Stevie Face has come along way since scoring his first big hit song I'm In Love, which was released on the Arrows imprint in 2001. Eight years later the honeycombed voice singer seems poised to take over the top spot in the lover's rock category of popular Jamaican music, since reviving his career last year. After suffering serious injuries in a car accident and a change of management due to reasons beyond his control Stevie's singing career was on the back burner for a while. However as faith would have it in 2007 he decided to work and album project with top flight record producer/musician Computer Paul. He and Computer had worked on a few singles before and had built up a good working relationship over the years, so making the decision to resume his career under the guidance of the highly reputed producer was an easy choice.
"I have been through a lot in my career so far having started out in the music biz while still in high school." "My first hit was a song called Teach The Children in the late 90s and then I found the big number one tune I'm In Love in 01." "Things were looking bright at that point but the accident along the death of my former manager slowed me down badly." "Now things are looking even better for me, two number one singles in a year is very good and I know my album have a lot more hits on it and the people are gonna love it", stated Stevie Face.
New York, NY - "Pop-Dancehall" artist Serani is gearing up for the release of his first U.S. full-length album titled No Games. The album comes on the wave of the huge success of his international hit single "No Games." The record has enjoyed incredible momentum with multi-formats radio play that includes Urban AC, Urban, Rhythmic and Top 40 and over 30,000 spins! The video for "No Games" is on rotation on BET, BET J, MTV Jams, MTV U, MTV2, VH1 "Island Soul" and Music Choice "Hit List" on demand, where it picked with 30,000 views a week during May/July 2009.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Serani started his career by touring as a keyboard player for several Jamaican artists (Wayne Marshall, Bounty Killer and more) and by joining school friends David and Craig Harrisingh to form Daseca, one of the most powerful production teams in Dancehall today. Serani and Daseca have been responsible for several dancehall hits, including Tony Matterhorn's "Dutty Whine," Sean Paul's "We Be Burnin'" and Mavado's "Real McKoy." Serani took his first chance at singing when he added a hook to Mavado's single "Dying" which he also produced. The song became a hit and Serani decided to start making his own tracks. His debut single "Doh" in 2007 turned into an immediate street anthem in Jamaica; the record also broke him into US radio stations, such as NY's Hot 97. The follow up "No Games" catapulted him into the mainstream with Top 40 airplay and video play on major national video channels. Serani is currently featured on Queen Latifah's new album "Persona" on the Neptune's produced track "If He Wanna" and on DJ Webstar's single "Tipsy."
Britney Spears finally debuted her "f*** me" video, officially titled "If You Seek Amy," or as pronounced, F-U-C-K Me. The song has already courted controversy over its lyrics.
Dancehall singjay Serani, along with veteran American rapper Common and fast-rising R&B song-bird Jazmine Sullivan, headline the Metro PCS 5 Borough Takeover Tour at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York starting March 10.
Madea is back and stirring up trouble in Tyler Perry's new film " Madea Goes To Jail".

The people were hungry for a clash, but this did not materialize.
Sting 2K6 was the show of the year Buju mash up the place, Ninja and Spice gwan good and Mavado almost dun de place.
Killer came out on stage after Mavado, did some good lyrics and got a lot of forward. He them called Beenie to come and war with him and the crowd went berserk. Beenieman did not come out on the stage.
As the sun begun to rise Addi di teecha (Kartel) came out with hit songs such as 'Beyonce Wine', 'Tick Tock' and 'I Neva', and got some forward, then he called up Beenie man and this time he came out and performed 'Roll Deep' and other songs and got plenty forward. While he was on stage performing out of nowhere appeared the man in black (GRUNG GAD) the name on the back of his vest, stormed on stage saying war is on. But the war did not go on.
According to Antionette, a patron at the venue, If a man walk away from almost any other show i could understand but not STING!!! yuh maddd!!! Betta prove yourself right there and then.

Just weeks after announcing her break up with husband of two years Kevin Ferderline, Britney Spears 25, has gone back to the wild life that she usually portray on and off the stage, and the same party craziness that Ferderline was exhibiting and she opposed in days gone by.
Britney Spears mother of two, is said to be appearing at parties skimpily dressed and behaving wild.
Its an all white affair at the greatest one-night show on earth (Guinness Sting 2K6). The outbreak of malaria has caused the promoters to caution patrons by telling them to wear white clothing or any other light color clothing to lessen the attraction of the mosquitoes. However they said that the venue would be safe as they will be fogging from December 23, 2006 to December 26, 2006.
The big man himself Vybz Kartel (Addi di Teeecha) will be decked out in full white. The designer is disclosed until the night of his performance. So you have to be there to see how the big man can really put himself together.

Killa, Kartel clash not good for the music industry
It will get a lot of forwards, and all the suss mobiles will hunk their teeth in the controversy between Alliance leader Rodney 'Bunty Killer' Price and ex-soldier Vybz Kartel, otherwise called 'Adidja Ade teacha' Palmer, but what loses is the content and quality of the Reggae Industry.
Many might be looking at the local industry that craves for cass cass, suss, clashes and verbal wars, but on the International Market that just won't do.

Mellow vibes was the place to be on October 28th 2006. Patrons danced up a storm as the djs delivered 70s, 80s and 90s tunes to the crowd. Whitney Houston First Public Appearance Since Rehab
Houston, 43, was escorted to a benefit for juvenile diabetes research in Beverly Hills, Calif., by her longtime record producer, Clive Davis, People magazine reported Monday on its website.
"I feel great," Houston was quoted as saying, while Davis, one of Saturday evening's honorees, told People: "We're going to make a killer album."
A blond Houston, wearing a black gown and diamond earrings, sat at the main table for the 17th Carousel of Hope Ball with Halle Berry and Berry's boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, People said.
"American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee sang Houston's "I Have Nothing" at the event.
"It's her first big appearance since the breakup," McPhee, 22, was quoted as saying on the arrivals carpet. "I would love to sing with her, but unfortunately all eyes are on me."
Let's pray for Whitney that she stays clean so she can testify about her ordeal.
Television personality Carlene Smith, formerly known as Carlene the Dancehall Queen, believes that the high intensity media glare on the relationship between dancehall celebrity couple Beenie Man and DAngel is unhealthy for the long-term survival of their marriage.
Carlene, who is the host of the popular show, Our Voices on CVM television, enjoyed a public relationship with Beenie Man in the 1990s that captivated the Jamaican society. However, the two parted ways several years ago in a high-profile break-up that rocked the dancehall world, but have remained friends through the years, especially since their union bore a daughter, Crystal.
DJ Premier is close to securing production work on Whitney Houston's upcoming comeback disc.
Premier says he is most looking forward to working with Houston, who reunited with Arista/J head Clive Davis recently to start planning her first new studio album in four years.
In recent years, Houston has battled drug addiction and last month filed for divorce from singer Bobby Brown, her husband of 14 years. Premier thinks the long-subdued pop star can make a grand reentrance. "She deserves another chance," he says. "I won't misguide her career and give her some bulls**t [track]."
