Infidelity is a breach of faith and occurs in a number of contexts (e.g., in religious contexts). Also called cheating: 'any violation of the mutually agreed-upon rules or boundaries of a relationship'. What constitutes an act of infidelity varies between and within cultures. It does not depend on the presence of sexual behaviour. Even within a close relationship, people might have very different ideas and perceptions of infidelity.. A man cheated on by his wife is referred to as a cuckold but no equivalent word exists for a woman cheated on by her partner. The term describes a married man whose wife has sex with other men.
But according to another set of people, cheating is anything that has to do with, lusting, touching another person in a manner suggesting or having erotic emotions.
Others think that a passionate kiss or lewd dancing and use of the tongue and teeth to place eechie on the body of a partner other than the one with which you have a committed relationship.

Having a cheating spouse is nothing new and cheating in relationships goes back as far as we humans can remember. A cheating spouse (and cheating itself) is common across all lands and cultures. Some scientists have recently tried to link cheating in relationships to the human genetic disposition, citing it as an act of nature we cannot control.

The problem with this theory however, is the fact that we are the only animals on this planet that seem to have a choice whether we mate with several partners or just one.

Cheating, for us, seems to be a concious decision and the decision to cheat is made purposefully and rests on each individual in a relationship.

A Cheating spouse may be affected by other factors which may contribute to the desire to cheat.
For example, scientists have recently discovered that males with higher than average testosterone levels may be at greater risk of being involved in extramarital affairs than males with low testosterone levels.
