Kingston, Jamaica:
There is expected to be a mad rush at Public Health Facilities across the island today, April 1, 2008, as user fees at these facilities will be abolished by Government.

The Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) and the Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH), are expected to host the most clients, and the Health Ministry has said to be prepared for this exercise.

Services such as a Doctor's visit and the acquirig of prescription drugs will be catered free of cost for members of the public.

In a lead-up to the General Elections, last year, the JLP, said that they were going to abolish the user fees at Public Health Facilities.

Some medical expects thought this move will place pressure on the fragile Health Sector, a claim the new Administration strongly refutes.

The Government of Jamaica in the interim has made available $100 million Jamaican dollars to assist with the process.
