Riverside; England
West indies inconsistency continued yesterday, Tuesday, June 19, 2007 on the final day of the fourth and final test match against England at Riverside.
The match was heading for a certain draw, with the Windies looking comfortable at 162-4 but, a dramatic middle order collapse saw the Caribbean men crumbling for 222 all out, leaving England needing only 110 runs to win in the final session.
England surpassed the target with seven wickets in hand, hence a 3-0 series victory.
West Indies looked as if they were turning the corner, when they played gallantly in a bid to overall a world record score of 454 runs batting last, to tie the series, in the third test. However, they lost by 60 runs, but, showed that they had some guts.
But, this latest result did more damage to this team that is in a rebuilding stage.
Shivnarine Chaderpaul was again the main stay of the Windies innings with 70, being the last man out, and Dwayne Bravo made 43.
England's spin bowler Monty Panesar took 5-46 to lead his team's bowling.
England raced to 111-3 off 21.4 overs, as Michael Vaughn was unbeaten on 48 at the end, while Kevin Pietersen contributed 28 runs.
Jamaican pacer Darren Powell was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2-38 off 7 overs.
