The long anticipated International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007 in the West Indies unofficially gets underway with a practice match on Monday March 5, 2007 with Kenya taking on hosts West Indies at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Complex in Green field.
Even though it is a practice match the Caribbean side will want to win this match to kick start their campaign for their third ICC World Cup Cricket trophy. West Indies won the first tournaments in 1975 and 1979 and lost to India in the 1983 final.
Kenya is not to be taken lightly as they have beaten the West Indies in a World Cricket tournament in 1996.

The Competition officially commences on Sunday March 11, 2007 with a colourful opening ceremony at the above venue in Trelawny.
The West Indies are drawn in Group D alongside Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland, while Kenya face England, New Zealand, and Canada in Group C.
