Last night I attended the welcome to JAMROCK concert at the Constant Spring football field, I will give the show an eight (8) out of ten (10).
Let’s start with areas that I was dissatisfied with:
1.There apparently was no parking arrangement in place. As a resul most of the patrons had to squeeze in a corner. I had to pay a man two hundred dollars for a parking spot on the road.
2. The sound was atrocious. TOK was badly hurt in my opinion. The best sound should be used for a production of this nature, even if it means increasing the price.
3.The partition that separated the VIP section from the regular people was too far. The partition was almost at the half way mark on the football field. It appeared that the organizers were expecting more VIPs than regular people.
4.The exit gate from the venue could be bigger. If there was an emergency and people were required to leave the venue in a hurry there would be a definite stampede and persons would have been injured.
5.The show was a bit short (although I think it was longer than last year), the organizers could consider lengthening the show including more local performers and an international artiste.
6.Andrew Tosh came on stage with a stick of weed, not quite sure if that was good idea.
Considering that the show was promoted as a family event I think that was not really a good thing to do.
The positive:
1.Although the sound was awful Tanya Stephens was excellent.
2.Junior Gong was amazing most of the persons were just expecting him to keep going. The interjection of Guest Artiste such as Capleton, Sean Paul, CocoTee and Steven Marley was an excellent concept and did very well for the show.
3.The show was on time and there were no delays in the band changes, they actually took ten minutes as stated.
4.The food stalls were pretty good I bought a curry goat.
5.The MCs were ok although they could have done more.
All in all the concert was well supported and I went home satisfied. I think the organizers should try to uplift the quality of the production by paying attention to the small things such as:
a)Parking
b)Food
c)Comfort of the patrons
d)Security of the patrons
In addition more emphasis should be place on the lineup; that is adding more artistes and making the show longer. Looking forward to it next year and expecting to hear a new album from Junior Gong.
