Reunion at Christmas

family-reunion.jpg

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Throughout the year you were up and about trying to make ends meet, so that food was in the house and the bills were paid, now is the time to settle down and spend sometime with your immediate or your extended family.

Imagine the tears of joy start streaking down your cheek as you have not seen them for the entire year, and it is extra special to see relatives from abroad you have not glanced on for 5-10 years. A hand shake just won’t do, hugs and kisses are in order.

Recently I asked a friend what he wanted most for Christmas and he said he wished for a reunion with his family because it’s a long time now they haven’t had a nice get together.

During a reunion there should some form of action, don’t be a spectator start a conversation with a family member there is a lot to catch up so don’t be a party pooper. Give a hand in the sharing of the food while Mommy gives jokes about the adventurous things we did when we were young.

On the other hand it’s so cozy being with your immediate family at Christmas time watching the television and having late night snacks as the children cuddle with mommy and daddy on the carpet. You could see it on the kids’ faces they were just dying for Christmas morning to appear that they can unwrap their Christmas presents. One look in their eyes brings joy to a parent’s heart as it was sure that they loved their gifts, and the customary hug and kisses just lit up the room and their soft voices uttering: “I love you Mommy and Daddy”.
