*Malaria toll now 156
The Ministry of Health in a Malaria update reported that the mosquito borne disease has risen to 156. This count is 16 more than the last released figure.
The current rise is expected as more blood samples are tested.
However, Dr. Marion Ducasse Senior Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health, said that they have things under control.
Mrs. Ducasse said that the persons contracting the decease caused by a bite from an infected anopheles mosquito are responding well to treatment.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health is still carrying out vector control procedures in the affected areas.
The first case of Malaria was discovered on November 30, 2006 and is confined to sections of Kingston/ St Andrew and St Catherine.
Signs and symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, and chill like feelings.
