XLCR, Bridgeport final

*Walker cup and Manning Cup champions sent packing

Mountain View Avenue based Excelsior High and Portmore School Bridgeport High qualified for the 2006 Manning Cup final with close wins over Eltham High and defending champions Calabar respectively at the Harbour View Mini stadium on Saturday November 18, 2006.

In the curtain-raiser Bridgeport came from two goals down to draw level 2-2 with the school from Red Hills Road through goals by first Theolophelus Samuels a shot that took a wicked deflection and then Andre Steele in the dying moments to force extra-time.

Extra time did not produce any goals and the game prolonged to penalty kicks but Bridgeport made sure there will be a new champion with a 4-3 penalty kicks win.

In the feature game Excelsior High which won back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004 made it back to the Manning Cup final after a one year absence with a 1-0 victory over Walker Cup champs Eltham High.

The final is slated for next Saturday at the National Stadium
