Spanish Town joins Eltham atop Group III in Manning Cup

Spanish Town joins Eltham atop Group III in Manning Cup

A 81st minute strike from Ronique Rowe carried Spanish Town to 1-0 victory over Jamaica College in the first game of a Group III double header at the Stadium East Field on Wednesday November 8.

In the feature encounter Eltham were held to a goalless draw by Charlie Smith.

Eltham and Spanish Town leads the group on four points each with the Walker Cup champs having a better goal difference of +1; Charlie Smith two points has a slim chance of advancing and JC 0, are out-of-contention.

These results mean the two St Catherine schools, Eltham and Spanish Town will have it all to play for when they meet in the Group III decider, while Charlie Smith tackles the Old Hope Road school. Both contests are on next Tuesday.

Over in group II Calabar took sole leadership of the group with a 1-0 win over last yearʼs beaten finalists Norman Manley on Tuesday while Waterford surprised Wolmerʼs High 2-1 to finish the Heroes Circle based schoolʼs Manning Cup hopes with one match remaining in the second round. The competition continues on Friday with a double header at the Stadium East field.

Games on Friday: Excelsior vs Camperdown 1pm, Bridgeport vs Jonathan Grant 3pm.
