Randolpf Alexander Fisher
Portmore Star Search Talent Contest has been in existence from 1998 and has been progressive ever since. The organizer of the contest Randolph Alexander Fisher who is also the organizer of Black Music Promotions is much exited about the show and is anxiously waiting the commencing.
Mr. Fisher explained to Jamaican Classifieds Limited “the contest is basically about harnessing young talent and developing them from a young stage to a professional stage; it is based on marketing Portmore as the largest English Speaking Community in the entire Caribbean.”
Mr. Fisher has been apart of the show from 1998 when it began to present. In an interview conducted with Mr. Fisher he stated that financial problems are an issue to the development of the show, however, over the years a fairly large number of persons supported the contest; 200-300 yearly; he believes that there are enough businesses in the New City, Portmore, to offer sponsorship to the contest. Apart from financial difficulties, he goes on to say that the contest becomes more and more competitive each year. “Some persons who enter, think the competition will be a walk through the park but don’t make it to the semis.” That goes to show the level of competitiveness.
In addition, there are criteria for entering this competition such as the quality of music. Mr. Fisher said “discipline is first on the agenda. We do not support derogatory music.” Secondly is the dress code. “If you are coming to perform, dress to perform.” He thinks that for the first audition which is to be held on the 4th November 2006, the turn out wont be enormous due to limited advertising. However for the second audition date which is on November 18th, 2006, he expects a larger crowd.
In concluding the competitors can expect professionalism from this contest and great prizes. These include
• Sting 2006 performance
• Music Video
• Record Contract
• Cooyah Clothes
And others…
So Portmorians come out in your numbers and support this event.
